Carpet Cleaning For Business Owners: Best DIY Techniques

If you are a business owner, then you know that one important part of attracting customers is having a clean floor on your premises. A customer who sees a dirty carpet may decide to go elsewhere. Of course, you could hire a cleaning firm to do the job, but another idea is to simply rent the equipment you need. You can do the task yourself or hand it over to one of your employees. This article looks a three carpet cleaning methods for commercial businesses

Steam Cleaning

This method involves using a cleaning machine that wets the carpet with hot water and a cleaning solution. The hot water and cleaning solution loosen all of the grime and dirt that has been embedded in the carpet. The machine then extracts it.

One key point to keep in mind is that the drying time can vary considerably, depending on how dirty the carpet was before the cleaning. In some instances, this might mean that you will need the steam cleaner for more than one day. If this is the case, make sure that you ask the rental company if discounts are offered to customers keeping the cleaner for more than 24 hours.

Shampoo Clean

Another method is to use a carpet shampoo machine. The machine works by releasing a chemical that foams into the carpet by means of a motor-powered brush. One possible negative of this technique is that the machine does not extract dirt from the carpet. Because of this, if you want to use a shampoo cleaner effectively, you must vacuum as much dirt and debris out of the carpet as possible before you lay down the shampoo.

Bonnet Cleaning

Bonnet cleaning is an alternative method that uses only a minimum amount of water, which will decrease the drying time. The machine uses a series of pads, or "bonnets" to remove dirt from your carpet. When one bonnet becomes saturated with dirt, you replace it with a fresh one. Bonnet cleaning typically does not do a thorough a job as steam cleaning or shampooing. For this reason, it's considered to be a an interim method of carpet cleaning. Using this technique will help let your carpet look its best during the intervals between deep cleaning with one of the first two methods listed above.
